Mileage Charges

  ST

Wasnt sure where to put this so the "off topic" sectiom will have to do. Anyway ive bought my car on 3 year deal, payin it every month etc, it is down for 10-12k a year, but there is a charge if i go over this, so what i wanna know is, how much do they charge per mile?

Any help will be much appreciated.

Cheerz, Alan.

i take it you mean insurance? give em a ring and say you are likely to exceed your mileage limit and ask how much an extension is!

Its nothin to do with the insurance, its the finance thing, if am givin the car back at the end of the 3 years etc?

The standard RFS Finance with Ranault charges 6p/mile exceeded on the agreed mileage limit. I went for 18k a year to be safe - though it looks like I will be close to that :(

Yer but 18000 miles x 6p is horrific if I had a 0 miles policy ;)

£60 / 1,000 miles is alright - but as I do a lot of miles I played safe!

That aint to bad, when am changin al only be payin about £360, i dont think thats too bad.

Thanks 172_4_life, big help.

lo m8,

the charge only applies if u r handing the car and walking away from the deal. If you are buying a new car its not a problem they will just value the car with the millage taken into account.

I always go on the 9k a year deal, and change every 2 to 2.5 years ;)

*** Off Topic But u all need to know ***

Just watch ur new finance figures, my local dealer offered to give me what io on my car, in a part-x deal for a meagne rs. Then came back with a figure of £414 per month lol. Seems the new way to rip us lot off, is to try to add what ever they have to give u over the book price for ur car into the new finance deal.

Might only be my local dealer - just check the figures before u sign

Cool, well i never i didnt know that you could just carry the mileage charge over to the next car, thats pretty good, even though ill prob end up gettin ripped of somewhere?

Sabers right. The charge for excess mileage is only made if you hand your car back at the end of the agreement. There are 2 other options which most people would take, 1. selling the car themselves and paying off the final payment or part exchanging it and the Dealer settling the finance on your behalf.

So if i exchange the car they pay off the finance but the payments on my next car will be higher so they get some cash from doin this?
