mis-fire / 3 cylinders + flashing management light

  H22A7 Accord Type R
9 months of being idle has taken its toll on R3...........

she started running dodgy yesterday, 1 day after her return from bodyshop lol
sounds like a subaroo, very little power, management light flashing..........dont know if its some s**t been dragged through the fuel system or what but it aint a happy chappy........will get the aa out to see what they diagnose........

i thought it was running too well to say it has been off the road so long....lol

  Bye Bye 182....
I work for the AA. Call em out they will probably tell you its coil (Thats the most common problem) If they cant fix it they will recover the car for you. What package have you got?

  Rb 182
does the engine have individual coil packs?

if not a faulty coil wouldnt cause those symptoms and no others (you;d be on 2 cyls if it was a wasted spark setup and it would die completely if it was a single coil setup...

Right then, think i will get the AA tomorrow......i dont have home recovery BUT............. i dont live at my 'home' address anymore so........will give them a buzz. The coil pack..........this is the 'HT' leads aint it? all 4 are on a block so i need to replace the whole pack is that right? Edde has a guide up about it. It hardly surprises me that something has gone, its been sat idle for 9 months! Plugs have done 4k since they were replaced. I aint started it today.......it sat okay at 3000rpm but sounds like a scoob at 1-2.5k lol!!! Ahhh i love the care free attitude i now have with it lol!

So what we reccon, £50 + fitting of coil pack?? do i take it to the bodyshop or do i take it to my usual garage then? :) Cheers guys........hoping to get it fixed by weekend so i can head north.........and hopefully nowt else will bugger up with the shed ;)

correct me if im wrong guys...

that engine has individual 'pencil' coils. (IE one for each cylinder) Theyre really cheap off ebay and you can fit them yourself. Remove the engine cover and they simply 'twist' in and out and have a connector where the wire goes into the top. You will have to trial and error with them. Make sure you buy the newer 'grey' coils as theyre supposed to be better.

If you call the AA out tell them you are visiting a friend at your new address as they will ask you to upgrade to Homestart. With regards to relay you will get a local recovery (Up to 10 miles) if they cant fix it and if you pay for just the coil that they can get for you they will fit it free so no paying Renault for the labour!

FIXED!!!!!!!!!! touch wood. New coil pack and 4 new plugs - rubber ends of leads were a pain as usual, gettin stuck on the plug! Had an oil n filter change too!! Took it for a proper run.............wow!

Running too well lol, i think its gonna blow up! Van hits a brick wall at 80 due to it having the aerodynamics of a house........clio just accelerates past 80.......and the exhaust..........mmmmmmmm!!! throttle response.........steering reaction..........and it feels SO tight with its new front end!!! fook me........:D

Still registering error code PO 0797 though - transmission fault. No warning light though?

  H22A7 Accord Type R
feels really strange!!!! im used to steerin wi the rear wheels in the van (due to no rear end weight lol)..........clio is like, point and go. And, at speed, u only need to twitch the steering!!! Its bloody strange to drive. Still loving ma van though - the momo wheel on it makes the clio feel like a bus haha

NEXT.....................car made it to Scotland and back.....i've done 700 miles in it since i got it back...........coming off the motorway and down the slip road after my 230 mile treck home, hits the brakes and front end makes a dive for the hard shoulder!!!!!!!!!! fookin what!!! let off brakes, braked again.........same, front end all over. Stopped and looked under car, my nice new wheel all covered in oil, all over the new suspension etc.........CV boot is shafted..........i guess the oil may have gotten onto the brakes hence why it pulled to the opposite side when i applied them?!

Fookin cars!! AND............when its had a good run, the idle is lumpy as fook! misses a bit..........only when HOT though.........just had new coil pack and plugs. Reccon one of the plug gaps is slightly out??? I just want it to work so i can upgrade!!!!!!! lol

Has

  RS 182 - Black Gold
Blimy Rob u have no luck when it comes to Renaults !!

Plug gap shudnt be out at all from new plugs tbh....

CV boot gonner :(

  H22A7 Accord Type R
tell me about it..........whats gonna cause this lumpy idle when its HOT then????? its fine when its not long been running.......... Any idea of a CV boot costings?? Ta.

Think i need to change from a clio now............. pml!

  H22A7 Accord Type R
ahye but........they can get dropped / damaged in transit ;) Its only when the engine been running for a lonnnnng time at speed by the looks.......its gettin old lol
