Misfire - Juddering - Lambda Sensor

My Clio 182 isn't running very smoothly, When I accelerate the power delivery is really jolty, it like jumps forward, and when its idling its very lumpy.

I think it could be the Lambda sensor, but want to check.
Now I understand the 182 has two Lambda Sensors. One before cat, and one after cat.

If I was to just literally unplug these, unbolts them from the exhaust, and then swap them over, would this be beneficial? Obviously in the long rung if this does sort it I'd need to replace them both.

Thanks

the 1 in the cat does nothing, you only need to change the 1 in the manifold. best thing is to put it on a diagnostics

Yea, so I think its the one in the manifold, which is faulty, so if I put the one thats in the cat, in the manifold, and the one in the manifold in the cat, if it runs fine after that, I'll know the sensor was faulty>?

I'll give it a go tomorrow. Am I right in thinking they can be a pig to undo coz they'll be so tight? 22mm Spanner I think I read somewhere?
And the electric connector for the front sensor looks like a nightmare to get too!

Yes and yes lol. Google luck. If that doesn't solve it get it on some diagnostics by somebody who knows that they are looking for, not just reading off fault codes

I ma having the exact same symptoms as you, lumpy idle and jolty power delivery but only when the car is cold, after 1 mile or so the jolty acceleration has gone but still lumpy idle. Let us know how you get on!

Not having the same issues as you guys but Ive been advised to change my lambda, does anybody know how much they are?

Yea basically the Length of wire on the connector is different for the two from the factory.
Don't know if it'd still reach though.
I'm guessing replacements are the same longer length, so will fit in both places, hence only being one available.

Yea mate, Except I drove it home 130 miles yesterday, and the further I went the worse it got!

Are you running a standard 182 exhaust sytem? or are u running a de cat or sports cat? as i have a mate who has a de cat and it eats sensors for fun becuse the OE spec ones from renault are crap! if u compare them to the sensor off say a Skoda or Volkswagen the quality is poor and they burn away under the excess exhaust gases that come from the de cat, my mate goes threw one every trak day lol!

Put it on Diagnostics

Its come up with Misfire on Cylinder 3, So am going to replace Coilpack and Spark Plugs.
How do you actually get to the spark plugs on sports?

Edit I can see them, Does the plenum bit just unbolt all the way round then lift off?

From memory the upper inlet has 4 or 5 bolts at the front and 2 or 3 across the back near the coil. Its very easy to remove, I have done it numerous times on my old 172 Mk1 in a matter of minutes. You will need to unplug a few electrical connections first though.

Let us know if the new sparkplug does any good. Also replace the coilpack first before you do the plugs just so you know exactly what the problem was rather then doing ti all and not being exactly sure what fixed it.

Huh? I swapped mine last week after having similar issues and they were both the same length and switching the lambdas resolved my issues...

This tbh. I can't see renault making two different wire lengths. Someone must have proof ;)

thats good news for you
May have a go at changing plugs and coil packs in mine as I have similar running problems

how much did the pluigs and coil packs cost?

Simon

Plugs and Coil packs were £130 roughly.
The plugs were £8 each!, then the coil pack plus the coils.

I got them on trade from a motor factors.

Regarding the Lambda's. Both mine were the same length. I'm guessing if one's been replaced on your car already, a parts place just give you the longer one anyway.
