Hi guys, I'd thought Id post this thread because it may be able to help someone out in the future :approve:
When I bought my clio 182 the cat was not fitted. The car was misfiring but drivable. I went down the road of changing the coil pack, then the plugs and then the leads, quite expensive really. The fault was still intermittent through all of this with the engine management light flashing consistently. When the fault went, the light was constant but I put this down to the cat not being fitted.
Anyway, I had to refit the cat due to the mot coming up and the fault went even worse. At my wits end at this point I stripped it down so I could get at the fuel rail and injectors. This was pretty easy to be honest - just had to remove this aluminium protector thing. On each injector there is a connector so I just removed one at a time. Each time the revs of the engine died apart from one - no 3...so I took the fuel injector out and swapped it with number one. The fault moved to this location so just proved it was the injector and not the electrics there.
I picked up a new one for £40 and since then the car has been running fine. The engine management light is now on constant but I believe it just needs resetting on a computer now. Pretty long winded all in all but was quite a simple fix really. The reason I didn't check there first was cause the thought of taking the injectors out was a bit daunting but after some research on the net was pretty straight forward.
