Missfiring 1.2 16V

Has

  RS 182 - Black Gold
Yup

Common problem on these lil engines.

Spark plugs and/or Coil Pack

Coil Packs are common, there about £50 from dealer. (these have the HT leads fixed into them)

I had this on my 53 plate turned out to be injection computer and the top wiring loom luckily it's still under warranty.

yeah same on my 1.2 16v... done about 50k and spark plugs needed replaced. Cost me £60 because i didnt have the correct socket for removing the plugs :(

  RS Megane DCi 175
Mine's not exactly misfiring but it does seem to idle quite rough. Could this be cured by replacing the spark plugs? It's on 24k.
(Sorry to hi-jack thread hehe)

  BMW M135i
Mine idles reletively rough when you start it in comparison to other cars, have changed the plugs and it made no difference. Just think there not smooth idling engines and theres nothing you can do about it, its alright after 20seconds or so though.

those damn ignition colis, I've had all 4 replaced during the course of 90 000 kms.

Been told by renault technician that the injection resets every 15 seconds and causes the dodgy idle/misfire. The vacuum pump can also cause bad idle as I have also had this replaced and it cured it to an extent, but it's just one of those things.

I now have rattly cams and it sounds like an 100,000 + h reg ford escort and they won't sort it because there is no know fault.

not many have got a vacuum pump i thought have they?spark plugs in my experience if their needing replaced the car will cut out slowing down to idle.
also been through two coil packs, the original ones on the 1.2 16v you basically couldnt remove them without ripping the ht leads of as i found out!
the top loom chaffing i've had a problem with aswell.i'm on a new loom and would recommend to anybody to remove the box that covers the left hand wiring connector into the ecu before the same thing happens.
