mk1 172 alloys!

hi all i have put some oz mk1 172 alloys on my 2000 w 1.4 sport but the thing is the speed is not there any more in the top end i used to get around 120mph but now can only get just past 100 !! whats going on.. should this happen any ideas ......

unsure why its doing that mate, did the car have alloys before and if so what size were they. if the wheels were smaller before then u will lose a bit of power from the engine as its working harder to move the bigger wheels.

yeah it came with 14s. the speed is still there in the pick up but can only just get past 100 ive lost 20 mph somewhere?

The bigger wheels will make a small difference to your speedo - but not that much
