  clio 172
ive been thinking the same thing for the past couple of days. 13 miles and about 25 mins to uni and f**ker is still cold when i get there! just tried to changed the alternator on mine today! what f**king job! called it a french piece of s**t and left it for the night with bumpers and front impact bar in the garage!!!

  clio 172
air con clears it rapid first thing!
haven't got the alternator off yet!
hard to slacken the belt as its spring tightened. plust had a pipe and lowering kit to fit on my mates bravo hgt. was suppose to put my set of springs on the clio today after the supposed 1 hour job of changing the alternator! fat chance of that.

ooer m8, cant think of anythin worse than fitting springs this weather if they go youll lose a mitt before you feel the pain - yow!:(

got fed up when taking a front spring off the shock and thought it would be ok just spinning the top nut off with a windy gun without putting the spring compressors on. non of the flying pieces hit me! my mate s**t his self as he didn't expect that! will have be a little more careful tommorow with the 172!!

Yep the gear knob gets freaking cold ... which is why I got used to driving in gloves. Good thing is the steering wheel doesn't slip with gloves on.

Exactly the same problem in the Vee too!

I was thinking about posting this very topic this morning, gets bloody cold!

I have actually driven my car less this week just because I don't want my hand to get that cold on the gear knob!

Brrrr....

My hand nearly got stuck to my gearknob this morning, was so ****ing cold!!!!

Argh!!!

Although I must say, the heaters v.quickly warm the car up :)

will see if my trick with the sock works in the morning.

if it does, i'll be sure to write a How To guide ;)

lmao...

"1. Turn iron on
2. Iron sock for precisely 22 seconds
3. Run, quickly, to the car
4. Stick sock, rolled up, onto the gear knob, making sure to also cover 2 thirds of the shaft."

yeah my old fiesta had a nice fake leather one, always room temperature! Went for a spin up the m5 this morning at about 8am, had to wrap my hand up in my sleeve to put my hand on the knob!

After the sock trick failing this morning, i came up with a new plan.....

let the passenger change gear :approve:

"I'll tell you what, today YOU can change the gears!!!"
