Mk1 Front seat removal - help needed!!!

I am trying to take the seats out of my car to fit some new carpet but where I have to move out the front seat theres a funny bolt thing and I don't know how to get it off. Ive included a pic of the culprit below. Anyone know what and how to get this off? (pics a bit blurry but its a pic of the front pass seat near gearstick area

you looked underneath the car? try cleaning out the inside of that head, possibly a rusted torx? dunno really, thought there was just 4 10 or 13 mils holdin em down. try hammerin an old socket over it

or drill/grind it out and put nice new bolts in

They unbolt from underneath as far as I know, bit of a pain in the arse but thats how it is.

yeh underneath, think their are sum caps u have to take off first.
