MK1 hand brake

How do i tighten up my mk1 hand brake cable its REALLY lose and doesn't hold the car very good ( Got its mot soon and i can tell the break will fail )

Go under the car and remove the heat sheild that sits just behind the cat above th exhaust centre section, here you'll see teh 2 hand brake cables going to a Y piece with a couple of nuts on a bit of threaded bar attached to the underside of the hand brake.

Adjust these nuts, but make sure you lock them back together tightly.

Check that its not just got one intact cable, if you don't hear it snap this can cause the same thing
