MK1 or MK2 V6

I know i will probably get a link saying this has been asked before.

What would you recommend, for a few extra grand i can get a Mk2 V6, i know the MK2 has more power and better built, however the MK1 is the original loon Vee.

So come on all you Vee owners give me your opinion as this is the main thing holding back on decideding on either one

Id say the Mk2 is better in every way than the Mk1 except.... The Mk1 is the original, the rarest, and the one people will look back on in years to come and view as the classic!

Plus, at the mo, the mk1 is cheaper, though in 5-10 years time, I think theyll be worth about the same money!

Would I swap my mk1 for a mk2....? well yes maybe.... Id drive the mk2 for a few weeks/months, then sell it, buy a mk1 and pocket the difference!

I used to have a 172 cup and then upgraded to a MK2 V6. yes the cup was a quick fun car problem is you had to keep it high in the rev range to enjoy. with the V6 you can cruise under 3000rpm and still enjoy the experience. I have never driven the MK1 V6 but judging by the reviews it appears to be flawed in comparison to the MK2.....also MK2 looks better IMO... but thats just my opinion

The common concensus is that the mk1s handling is flawed, but I cant say that Ive found this to be the case. It handles like its on rails, providing you have the balls not to lift off mid corner - but surely thats the same with any mid-engined car?

Having said that, all the red-flags Ive heard about the wet weather handling mean that Ive never really pushed it on anything other than dry tarmac, but then again, the only car I have EVER driven hard in the wet was my Escort Cosworth, which was 4WD and was so surefooted you could leave just about anyone for dead on a wet road!

The only complaint I have with the handling Ive also heard applies to the MK2, and that being at motorway speeds (upwards of 80mph), as those square sides, and air intakes make the car very susceptible to modorate side-winds!
