MK1 PH3 Cuts out

My Mk1 PH3 Clio seems to cut out randomly if i remember rightly it has only happend with NO revs 'N' Clutch off Hot OR Cold. Some times it doesn't start up right away have to turn the key a couple of times.
Any one have any ideas ?

mine does exactly the same, touch wood it hasnt done it since i had my cambelt and engine fixed after the cambelt snapped
havent got a clue wots up with it tho sorry lol

today was stuck out side my girlfriends house for about 30mins as the car wouldnt start :-(. Couldnt even bump start it. My thoughts are its dirty Plugs

whats the milage mate? going by the fact its a mark 1 im guessing over 60k? take the plugs out have a look might be dirty or dripping with oil due to rocker gasket leakage...if they are oil ridden, then change rocker cover gasket and replace plug...or clean plugs until you can afford new plugs.

Check HT leads as well...make sure they have good contact and are not torn/split.

Also check battery terminals make sure its not rusted, give it a light sanding with wet and dry.

should be enough to get on with

Lazy startermotor?

Give the startermotor a whack with the hammer, when it next happens. (not too hard though) Was the reason for my PH3 for not starting on the odd occasion, suppose it wouldnt explain the cutting out though.

I had the same problem. Never knew what it was for ages. The problem was the idle speed control valve. I got a new (well refurbed one anyway lol) from Matt Blacks company for about 70 pounds iirc. You can clear it but got no idea where it is on the engine bay as my garage done it for me. I know it connects to the throttle body tho. Hope this helps. Matt Blacks company is Specialist Renault breakers or something. Hope this is some help
