Is there any way that I can check the ATF level on my Clio II 4-Speed Auto? Can't see a separate dipstick for the gearbox fluid... Thanks
Anyone? Is there any way that I can check the ATF level on my Clio II 4-Speed Auto? Can't see a separate dipstick for the gearbox fluid... Thanks
Sean, thanks for that! Makes sense.. just two things, is it best to shift through gears with the engine running before releasing the drain plug? Also do you know where the fill point is? I'd normally fill an auto tranny through the ATF dipstick hole but can't see one on the Clio. Afaik it's a DP0 tranny.. Thanks again, SteveYou need to top up the level with half a litre of dextron 3 fluid. Then warm the gearbox temperature to at least 60degrees.
When up to temp, undo the square drain plug on the gearbox with the engine running. You should see a small amount drain and this will level the fluid to the correct level.
Shifts perfect but still good practice to check fluid level for the same reason you'd check engine oil, PAS fluid level etc. Prevention is better than cure, especially when it comes to auto boxes.. big £'s if they go wrong and fluid level / condition are paramount to AT longevity. What a f**k about, if it shifted as it should I would be inclined to not bother!
Thanks Sean, really appreciate your help & advice,,No leave it in park when checking the level. The fill plug is on top of the gearbox, 7mm square plug. You cant miss it.
