Mk2 Clio Dci 100's.

  dCi 65 + C2 (<Sold)
I thought you had an S3?

It's the bang for buck performance increase. £400 for 50bhp/100lbft torque or whatever is unrivalled anywhere else. Most diesels can cope with that power increase factory as well, without having to uprate everything. Plus the MPG doesn't drop that much at all.

Not many people are in the position of owning what is kind of (according the the CS poll lol) a supercar, with freedom on insurance etc for other cars.

I think it's a good move for me personally.

I have buddy, that's what I'm saying. Bought the S3 for the go, not MPG. If I was doing 100s of miles I would buy a diseasel and want decent MPG, not power :) Ah well, clearly just don't get it haha.

Lol, that thread amused me. Understand the position etc, but would have thought people wanting power would get a powerful car, not something designed to be eco :)

All diesel owners do 100s of miles though lol, otherwise it'd be pointless having it, even for the remapping capabilities!

Eh? I mean if I was doing a lot of miles a week, it would be cheaper to have a diseasel, not a petrol, as the MPG is better. . .

Lol... Put it this way...

Would u rather have

1.. A petrol car with 130bhp with 120lb ft and weighing 1100kg that runs 30-40mpg, with higher tax n insurance..

OR

2.. A diesel remapped to 130bhp with 190lb ft and weighing 980kg that runs 55-70mpg.. With alot Lower insurance n tax

it's like, I'd rather have a 123d over 130i.. Same reasons above, as quick if not quicker and alot cheaper to run.. Simple.

Bit clearer? ;)

Neither, that's my point!

I'd have a 140bhp/240lb/ft 50mpg car or a 200+bhp petrol that could do 5mpg for all I care . . .

Either or in my books!

Yea I c your point but the bigger picture is simply down to money, what people can afford, there situation, personal tastes etc etc..

Only to those that can't see it!
yes but lets remember that a remapped diesel with a decent remap will do better mpg while doing average driving than it will pre map. yes you may be 2 or 3 mpg down when giving it full throttle overtaking with 4500rpm gear changes, but if you care about mpg then you wont be driving like this so it wont matter

what i like is the fact i got a 30% increase in power for £275 with a 5% loss in mpg when really going for it? and probably a 5-10% gain in mpg when driving it economically.

Remapping, as MJ (I think) posted, for the different reason was what I was getting at, and Martin has hit it on the head. A remapped diseasel will do better MPG than one without a map. That's fine, I agree with that.

Just don't understand why you buy an economical car to then remap the s**t out of for loads of power (read - same power as a standard petrol, probably for the same price) and poor MPG. . .

because i do nearly 1000 miles a month and its nice to have the power and torque when i get to a decent road to go for it and have a load of fun :) it also trasformed my car from being nippy to having genuine overtaking power (by that i mean something i consider acceptable for safe overtakes when being used to the 172)

i see where your coming from i wouldnt buy a diesel for economy and remap it then drive it flat out everywhere, but for what i use mine for the remap seemed like the perfect upgrade! plus when your used to N/A cars its not very often you get the chance of a gain like that for £275!
