mk2 lights

hi all, im new here so i hope if put this in the right place,
i have a mk2 ph1 clio 2000 reg, and ive just got some lights from a 2001 clio, i put them on today and when i break the indicator lights come on and when i indicate then break it stops the indicators :S is it simple that the lights arent ment for the car or is it a dodgey connection ? has anyone else put the newer model lights on the older model ?

Ive done it, its very easy, you need a small flat bladed screw driver to get the electrical clips out of the wiring block. The only problem I got was confusing pink with violet!
