Mk2 Ph2 dCi vs 306 HDi handling?

I was just wondering if anyone has had the chance to compare the handling of these two cars at stock? I have a Mk2 dCi Clio myself and I love the way it handles. I'm thinking of going for a 306 HDi of some description next and wondered how they compare in that department? I've heard people sing praises of the passive rear steering etc.

306's are meant to be quick well handling cars.. i managed to spin my Dci clio out in the wet so they're not the best.. grip grip grip... oh f**k!

HDi definately, have't driven a DCi but the 306 HDi is the same chassis/suspension setup as the 306 GTI-6, which I love handling wise, as does anyone whos tried them. Superb fun with the lift off oversteer shenanigans!!

yup, the 306s are great.

Along with the 106s the last decent Peugeot in my opinion.

80k miles in a derv 306 is what made me realise FWD hatches are fun - lift off oversteer on demand...but not snappy like in a Clio...must be to do with the longer wheelbase on the 306.

I had a '99 HDi Dturbo.... brilliant car. Far better handling than my 172. Much more composure, yet easily chuckable considering it was a bigger car.

Not quick, but nippy enough. I had mine chipped and it was OK once rolling. Shocking off the line as standard though... somehing like 12 seconds to 60 book figure iirc. (Although my old casio stopwatch made it just over 10 lol )

All pretty favourable opinions on the 306 HDi then so far, think I'm gonna enjoy driving one!

I've never found my Clio snappy actually - always quite progressive when on the limit. I've only managed to get it out of shape once in the rain, but admittedly I was pissing around with the handbrake when I shouldn't have been and went on a bit heavy (I couldn't resist in the wet). After briefly pointing the nose at the kerb it just... sorted itself out, I don't know if any safety systems intervened but I was pointing in the right direction again in no time.

If the 306 offers more of the same but even smoother and more predictable then I'll be a happy bunny. Obviously the first thing will be a trip to a remap specialist

Marks comparing it to a 172 Cup though..... they're horrible things. The annual cull will begin soon as they all go sliding backwards into the hedge bottom.

I had a 306 HDI D-Turbo in moonstone blue. and it was the best car i have ever owned! Mint! realy regret selling it, wish id kept it as my daily driver. The handiling is unreal for what it is, had mine chiped aswell which made a nice improvement along with de-cat i had no problem geting 660 miles to a tank! ll have another some day for sure! defintly a change for the better from the dci imo.

Not driven a 306 but my old dci was pretty good in the handling stakes. Not enough power to overwhelm the chassis meant you could be flat out all the time.
