Mk2 ph2 key issue

Tried a search but couldn't find anything, but pretty sure I've read something on here about it.

Anyways, my gf owns a mk2 ph2 1.2. She has the main key and her step dad has the spare. Last night whilst we were out he used the spare key to move the car from round to corner to on the the drive. Then today when she went to start the car, she said the key wouldn't even turn when she put it in. No clicking or anything, just wouldn't turn at all. Any ideas?

Are you sure it's not the steering lock? Try to wiggle the steering wheel as you turn the key

Sticking barrel or worn lock I'd guess.

Try a bit of WD40 on the key blade and insert it a fee times. Give it a few trys but whatever you do, don't force it.

I asked her if she tried wiggling the steering wheel, she's saying she did, but she's an idiot. I'll try the wd40 trick tomorrow cheers.
