Mk3 Dci - Key sticking in ignition

Sometimes it won’t go in fully and it feels like it’s getting stuck. The key blade looks pretty worn.

Is this a case of replacing key and barrel? How easy is that? Any programming required?

To update this and maybe help someone else the car needed a new ignition barrel which was around £130 (genuine part).
