Modified dCi's

  Clio 197
If you have a modified dCi put some pics in here of it and list the mods.

Wanna see some other peoples dCi's to get some ideas for mine :)

List all exterior and engine mods please! :)

  Monaco
The exterior mods will be identical for a dci as with all non-sport.

As for performance; the dci 100hp has a bigger turbo, intercooler and rear discs - that might be good place to start. Also, a remap would give good results :)

I suggest you try searching dci up the top corner too

  Clio 197
Yeh still wanna see some pics though. I have a dCi 100.

Getting mine superchipped soon that gives a boost in bhp and torque like a remap.

Stay away from superchips! Get it to a Renault Specialist for a proper remap, not an off the shelf overpriced badly written map.

  CBR1000RR Fireblade
im not a fan of superchips but there generic maps for the turbo cars are very good for near standard or standard car.

FYI a superchips generic map will be flashed onto the ecu, the days of "chipping" are long gone. soldering eprom chips into the ecu is old school

  Astra GSI, 172, Golf
mine was a
dci65
derv doctor -dumpvalve
'' '' -remap
dci 100 turbo
removed egr
enclosed filter

IMO a generic map is never a good idea when looking to increase power, especially in a boosted car. Taking it to a specialist who will spend some time with it on the rolling road could save your engine! If there is a problem, it will be identified and give you chance to sort it before potentially making it worse by increasing the boost etc.

nothing wrong with superchips if you are after a generic map. thats where the mrs is taking her DCI soon.

Ok I will get a professional remap. First I need to get my cambelt changed. Does anyone know if a fresh cambelt can improve performance at all?

Fresh cambelt improves performance massively over an old one that breaks...

Gouldy, generic maps are bad. If I was tuning my car I would rather pay a bit more and get it done custom to my car AND have the peace of mind that it was checked over and all running properly. Not just a quick download of a generic piece of software.

  Clio 197
Really lol? So any will there be any difference from changing the old one for a fresh one?

I would show you mine but its nothing special! Just 172 wheels. xenons and springs. Pm me if you want your cambelt doing as im only from Honiton.

You ran the 100 turbo without the Intercooler? what figures did you get from the 65 with those mods?

yeah was meant to of been 106bhp but im a bit dubious about that. however it did used to leave vtr's( 90bhp) + corsa(100bhp) sports fairly easily.. so who knows

and yeah never got round to fittting an intercooler... so fitted a 172 engine instead :p

ive had 2 generic maps on my cars and a few live maps in the past. id never let superchips near a naturally aspirated car, but they do very good generic maps for the turbo cars. these are the people that spend alot of money on R and D and for a standard turbo car they are very good.

NEVER download any generic map of the internet and just install it, well, if you dont know this then you shouldnt be modding a car in the first place

FFS your missing the point. Forget about it...

i see your point, you want to do a diagnostics check before you map a car. everywhere does this before mapping anyway. my GT TDI MK4 had a bag of crap £199 off the shelf generic map installed onto the eprom chip and had it soldered back into the ecu. even this had a diagnostics check done before the map was installed.

FFS, im getting headache again...

A remap is better than a superchip. I get it lol.

FFS, read the posts properly. superchips is a brand, like any other brand. they install generic maps for most road going vehicles. there are also companies out there that do live mapping like RS Tuning, Chip wizards etc etc. if your car was made before 2001 you can re map the cars through the OBD2 port. if the car was made before 2001 you have to remove the eprom chip from the ECU, use an emulator when live mapping, install the file either on a new chip or re use the old chip if it wasnt damaged when it was removed and solder it back into position in the ECU.

what DUCK is saying is that he prefers live maps because they do a full diagnostics check before hand. however, 99% of mapping companies out there will do this anyway because mapping a car that has a fault is just asking for bother or a mechanical failure of some sort.

superchips are a company that generic map cars, its a brand and not a process. learn this

No I didnt mean a disgnostics check. A computer only tells you so much. Getting a car on a rolling road with an experienced mapper at the helm you will be identify problems that the ECU wont necesarily have picked up.

Oh sorry gouldy if I annoyed you because I made a small mistake. I am really sorry.

I'm out.

I was wrong and I'm sorry.

EFA ;)

Only messing mate, but seriously, there are times when only an experienced professional will do, and IMO this is one of them. Sure you can install a map and be trouble free for ages, but what if there was a problem that an experienced person would have noticed when running it up on the rolling road that could have been fixed, but because it wasnt, has written off your engine? Thats my point. If you disagree thats fine, but you gotta see where I am coming from, surely?
