  Skoda Fabia vRS

is your 16v standard ?

if so........the usual mods

for £500 you can complete a typical stage 1

Green replacement element in the airbox - dont get an induction kit !

K-Tec exhaust system + de-cat pipe

Hill Power Stage 1 Chip

that should all be about £500 or maybe even less

This is what BBTuning have on there site bout tuning the valver

A Brief guide to tuning your Clio 16v, We hope you find it useful.....

Firstly and usually overlooked, is to carry out a detailed service of the car. Obviously Oils, Filters and Spark Plugs are the main choice, but additionally Ignition Leads, Distributor Cap / Rotor Arm, Cooling system flush and Injection system clean, should be on list if no history of recent replacement is at hand. Now its hard to believe but if the car is down on power a detailed service of the above description can reap lots of performance, say up to an extra 15 BHP !!! So its well worth the money spent.

Sensibly the next step is to improve on the cars breathing, this comes with fitment of our Stainless Steel Performance Exhausts and one of our Performance Air Filters. An increase in air flow from these will give a few extra BHP at this stage but will be more rewarding as additional modifications are carried out.

If you do not wish to go into further engine modifications we would advise the fitment of our Replacement engine management chip and our Power boost valve. Coupled with these parts it is sensible to carry out a Rolling Road Tune which we can do in-house. Sensibly you should be around the 150 BHP mark with the above modifications, to go further means delving into the engine itself to extract more power.

About now its time to get serious. The first option if the car has a healthy bottom end is to work on heart of the car. Gasflowed Cylinder Heads / Manifolds are certainly in order, mated with our Performance Cam Kits. With these parts fitted the engine can ‘Inhale’ more air / fuel mixture then effectively combust it to produce plenty of power. Also with these fitted the Performance Air Filter and Exhaust start to play more of their role as the engine is requesting and expelling more gas!! Magnecor Ignition Leads and Uprated Spark Plugs should also be considered to precisely ignite all the fuel mixture. With all the above modifications the car should now be exceeding 175 BHP (depending on Camshaft choice).

The success of any performance package is to make sure everything is as 100% as possible, the first mistake people make is to modify a car that is not even worthy to run in standard form, its no secret that you start with a strong base and work upwards. Some cars are at least 10 years old now and a lot can happen in such a time scale with more than often poor servicing and maintenance. Partially blocked radiators, perished hoses, worn clutches, tired suspension and incorrectly fitted parts are to name just a few of the culprits that contribute to unreliable cars.

Safety is the other main concern. When it comes to increasing the performance of the car, Braking Components are one to seriously consider. Mild performance gains can be accomodated by a Good standard set up and we offer a selection of Performance Brake Pads, Brake Discs and Brake Lines to cope with the added strain put on by higher performance levels. Its also easy to over do it, so contact us for a recommendation for your vehicle.

More Power can be extracted from the sweet 16 valve, this would involve more detailed engine building consisting of :- Forged Pistons, Forged Con-Rods, Lightened / Balanced strengthened Crankshaft and the use of Throttle Bodies to name a few but a new route that we have developed is Turbocharging.

Using new manifolds, down pipes, houses, everything, we are proud to announce our Turbo Clio is almost ready. Early tests have indicated at power figures over 200 bhp and beyond with a torque curve to match that figure makes the Clio Turbo an amazing drive!!!. Keep your eyes glued to the website for prices and details as the kits are almost available.

Best thing is to look around on the for sale section. Heres what i ve got for my 16v so far all second hand of course;)

pipercross viper £110 - 5-8bhp

decat pipe £30 3-4bhp

magnex cat back zorst £80 2 bhp

power boost valve £40 2-3bhp

£260 for about a 10-15bhp increase.

Next step is a supersprint manifold, uni chip then maybe a 2.0l bottom end.
