Morego, Starchip

Advice needed please,

I'm looking into having a "Morego" starchip fitted to my 2003 registered 172 cup, I have owned the car from new and has covered 23000 miles it is standard apart from an ITG replacement panel filter and has a full main dealer SH, the gains expected from the chip are 10bhp and 12Nm torque, has anybody had this chip fitted or has any comments as to its claims, the cost is just under £350 fitted and is reversible. details are availiable on their website.www.morego.co.uk
Any input would be appreciated.

thanks Big Al.

Pmurray seems to have the best reputation for remaps, do a search. Sure he's cheaper than that.

You won't get 10hp from it IMO.
Best best is 4hp. You might get 10hp mid range but top end no way 10hp.

I'd personally go to chipwizards etc for a fully custom mapping made for your car which is the best for making power.

they claim 10hp which is right but the gains are added up through the whole range i belive.

RST (pmurray) has a genuine 8hp from his map and its about £275 i belive

Yeah mate... have not had dealings with Morego but you cant get much better the Pauls remap i dont think. Very good reputation on here.

Oh, and paul mapped mine and its 1st class.

Pmurrys arnt live maps though, but the best in your situation of mods and are keen priced.

True, but i think he can program them to coinside with certian mods. Best ask him.

Live maps are also more expensive for an uncertain increase in gains over pauls. Proven 8bhp from RStuning is very good even for a live map.

From my experience unless your car has major mods a live map is a pure waste of money, yes it sounds good as it's individual but so are my maps ;)
Our 182 map did 14hp and 25lbft run before and after on the same dyno approx 5 minutes apart:

Unless you are running throttle bodies i really can't see the point of a live map!

Hi Paul
I'm in Wakey only 20 mins away, which RR do you use (just for the before & after figures)
Cheers

Very nice results.

Are these mapped & or RR'd with a wide band sensor?

looking at your graph the original dyno results power at low revs seems to have been decimated to a quater of what is was ..
i thought you would get a power gain over all of the rev range ?

seems good for track use,but could be a pig to drive in traffic ?

Setup on the RR with a wideband as are all our base maps

I don't quite understand what you mean about the original result? The car was perfect to drive on the road with increased power/torque throughout.
