MOT at Renault Dealer?

Got to take my Expression for it's first MOT since I've had it.

Are there any advantages to having the MOT done at my local dealership, than any other MOT centre?

NO WAY. they will charge you for the air the bloke was breathing when he did the test! go to a old man type indi.

The only advantage I've found using a Renault dealer was due to the whole 172 Cup rear actuating arm issue.

Dealers wanted £52 for an MOT, got one down the road for £30

You will find private garages that will be much cheaper. As long as they are official MOT centres, you are good.

You can get MOTs done at the local council garage depots usually.

As they do no work on cars, other than their own fleet, they have no (monetary..) reason to find 'extra' little faults that need 'fixing', therefore I'd trust mine going there more than anywhere else!

other than what's been said , i took mine to the main dealer , 40 quid paid and no probs , if you do your mot before its due , you could always try to claim thing under warranty , should their be major problems .

I wouldnt trust Renault doing a MOT test. I just cant stand the way every dealer slams the bonnet down. Saying that I brought my first Clio from Renault 2nd hand. They gave it 12 months MOT with a broken seatbelt, broken brake lights and a cracked fog light.

I always use my dealer but they are always straight with me. Plus I get a free courtesy car for the day :approve:

Almost but not quite, MOT's have a maximum price.

Fees aren't fixed, but there are set maximums for tests. From 7 Nov. 2006 these are £50.35 for cars, 4x4s and caravans; £34.65 for motorbikes with side cars or £27.15 for motorbikes.

Dealers often give you free tests as long as you own the car but in my experience they fail a car on things that could be advisory and in some cases not an issue. The handbrake cable is a favourite.

My dealer failed mine on illegal plates, so they made me some legal ones, fitted them and then passed it all at no extra cost to me.

Depends on the dealership. There are good dealerships out there.

You will find private garages that will be much cheaper. As long as they are official MOT centres, you are good.

Check though you might be suprised.
