mot failure cv joint gaiters split?

failed mot and its says on the sheet that both cv joint gaiters were split.
is this just a case of replacing the whole cv joint on both sides?

iirc its only a fail on the outer cv's in which case its a matter of just replacing the cv boots on both sides. Not too expensive from renault or a motorfactors and just needs put back over the joint and clipped back up.

Or if its only a small split you might be able to glue it from the inside perhaps
