Mot.. What will it fail on?

  audi a6 3.0tdi
My bargain 172 is in for its MOT today. What does everyone think it will fail on? we'll see who's right later on.

Last time all it failed on was an exhaust that had rusted through and it now has a Blueflame cat back. The car is on 112k and had full service history upto 94k.

I think exhaust mounts, Fog lights don't work and thats about it.

I don't think front 'fogs' are even part of the test are they? One of mine has passed two MOTs with one of them cracked. They're s**t anyway. Pointless lights with no use in any possible driving situation. They even make visiblity worse in the fog.

I think mine's up for MOT today too (if I can sort out my rear light problems), it'll fail on pretty much everything I bet. :(

Don't think they're part of the normal checks, but if its on the car it must work. So it can be tested if the guy descides to be a bit of a c**k.
Likewise with the spare wheel, if its bald, leave it at home! :)

Well thats the way the MOT in n.i. works, sometimes strict fookers over here.

It was the same with the seatbelts, as it has one bucket seat and a harness i was told all other seatbelts must be removed as they would fail it if they were there.

Actually yeah the fog lights do have to work if they're fitted. I guess the fact that my offside is smashed to f**k didn't matter as long as the bulb works.

It failed on the following

  • no side lights (i've got hids why do i want yellow sidelight lol)
  • registration lamp not working
  • passenger wiper blade not securely fastened
  • rear exhaust mount collapesed
  • cv boot has come of on passenger side
Not bad considering it only cost £1400 and its on 112k

Right i'm of outside to fit my new shafts and engine mounts and then going to halfauds for some bulbs and wiperblades

Sounds like the repairs are cheap ones to me mate. £30 tops for repairs?

Contact CES UK for exhaust mounts...Around £10 when i bought mine.

My mates got a halfords trade card so i'll get all the bulbs there and i'll give the tesco wiper blades a go :)

I've fitted the driveshaft just going to do all the engine mounts tommorow and then i'm putting it in for its re-test. It'll be all running great just in time for the wales run :)

Just for the record, my reverse lights have never worked on my old MGB and it passes mot's no problems as did my old e30 bm that didn't have working reverse lights either. So it's a bit of myth that if its fitted or even there it has to work.....fogs and reverse lights are classed as accessory lights i assume.....

...or they didnt test them lol;)

i've got mine on friday, just hoping i dont need to replace much. I think my engine mount has gone and i have this really annoying fault light that just pops up sometimes, but the car still runs exactly the same when it is on:S, you wouldn't notice unless you saw the light...might have to get the tape out just incase...
