Movement in rear top mounts

there will be some form of movement in any rubber mount. wether it is excessive or not is hard to say without actually looking at the car.

Yep!!!

I have movement in the rubbers of half an inch.

My mates old mk2 golf did this loads but his top mounts were knackered and a nice banging noise came with it but he didnt care, its due to the rubber doughnut at the top mount of the strut assembly, it could be worn if loads of movement takes place. Wear can normaly be seen by the mount sticking up more than normal.
 


My mk1 gold had that problem, got upgraded ones, maybe its an old VW trait.

It would hardly be suprising that your Uno needs new ones being the age that it is, my dad had his Alfas replaced and it was 7 years old. I will glady have a test drive of your car to see if anything else is out ;)
