MP3

Just bought my Clio with the standard CD player but already I want to improve it, thing is I think changing the CD player makes the inside look tacky no offense to those who have done it. Anyway was wondering if theres anyway of turning the standard CD player into an MP3 player but keeping the same head unit? Maybe its a bit Buck Rogers styleee just want to know if its possible and if so any idea how much.

I looked into it mate, and the standard HU is a bit poo for adding any extras like a Aux-In cable (meaning you could connect an mp3 player using a stereo jack).

The only other way is using an FM transmitter thingy that you can get from Ebay for about £20. The quality isnt exactly CD, bout the same as radio I guess. (Ive got a Belkin one you could have for a few £, PM me if interested)

Nothing beats a new MP3 HU though.

The FM transmitter idea gone straight over my head, Im about as technical as a baby goat. Guess Ill have to stick to burning CD upon CD. Lifes a b**ch huh...thanks for the help though.

The FM transmitter bit means that a std stereo that does not have RCA cable inputs can receive auxilary inputs via the std aerial lead.

This is all well and good but it means that the quality will not be digital and only similar to radio.

Best thing is to buy a cheapo mp3 player and this will probably go in without much problem, try http://www.hendoncaraudio.co.ukhttp://www.hendoncaraudio.co.uk

Std stereo is a bit ugly!

they aint the cheapest although not as pricey as some but they sell quite a few some comparisons can be easily made.

Would that still work for the standard Clio head unit? And any idea of the total cost as Im a bum and still living off my folks.

The standard stereo is p*ss, i had mine out within 3 weeks of havin the car!

Oh n i gotta disagree changin the standard head unit isnt tacky, it looks alot better unless youre puttin in the likes of a cheap £100 JVC effort, but if youre puttin in a decent unit like an alpine or a panasonic etc, its definately not tacky!
