I dont get it though, when I 1st got it, it said 7.9 GB and now it dosent, Kully, what does urs say it is?

Just a file that has been put on it to fool windows, when you format the drive, that file obviously gets wiped and it true capacity can be seen.

T3RRY I don't want to cast aspersions on you, I understand and don't doubt you sold these without being properly informed. But the problem is people bought these players 'safe in the knowledge' that they were getting an 8GB mp4 player for £50, now what they seem to have is a 1GB mp4 player.

So what options do you have?

Mate you're not understanding this. Please go and READ the links I posted on page 2/3 this details EVERYTHING regarding this issue.

Every player he sold will be the same capacity using the same memory chips, clearly these will all be 1GB (908mb usable after formatting).

The players incorperate a firmware hack that will identify itself to windows as having 8gb capacity, in actual fact it's still only a 1GB card - but Windows is tricked into reading this false size.

Please don't flame me but there's a very infamous saying that goes something like the following..

You get what you pay for.

When I saw Terry's original thread advertising these it was obvious what was going to happen. I'm in no way whatsoever suggesting everyone who paid for one of these deserves to find out it's a piece of junk but by the same token what happened to common sense?

T3rry hopefully you will do the right thing but I have to ask the obvious. If you were selling them at £50 a pop what did you actually pay for them and did you actually think they would work??

I also seen his thread on selling the PS3s, which again, from what i knew at the time would be dodgy, so in that particular thread said something along those lines, which of course was a breach of the rules and it was quickly deleted. So didn't bother saying anything in the former thread.

So i, like most people, knew people were buying complete shite, but couldn't say anything.

What would you advise Griff to avoid future incidents like this.

my thoughts exactly, i found all the dodgy info out that has been mentioned in this thread quite quick after a bit of googling, but if it had been posted i would have been in the wrong

About £14 per 100 they can be had for.

I bought one and didn't think it was dodgy , not naive but 50 quid isn't cheap either .
After talking to terry , i'm sure he will do the right thing and think we've moaned enough now . Terry didn't know / believe that the mp4 players are bad , we are human and will learn from our mistakes .

So PLZ mod lock this one :S

To be honest mate I think it's down to the prospective buyer to use their own common sense. If something looks too good to be true then walk away. If you have any doubts at all then try and get as much information as possible on what you're buying. Let's see what course of action Terry now takes with the unhappy buyers.

8GB for sure, but he doesn't define if its 8000megabyte = 8GB or 8 GigaBITS = 1024MB and so 1GB.

I have liased with terry and he has gave me what i feel is adequate on his behalf , we both finally reached an agreement and am sure he will liase with the other buyers accordingly .

Unfortunately he has had to learn from this situation and i'm happy to deal with him in the future ..... :rasp:

About the PS3s. At the time you were selling them, it just so happened to be a huge number being shipped in the were not genuine Sony (dont have the details to hand what the problems were) but wrote along those lines in a post, which was deleted.

I knew this jap shite was total dodge also, would you rather me of told you about it now?

Nothing personal, just pains me to see people throw hard earned down the drain, but from now on will be taking the Griff approch.

I didnt even want these mp4 players butt hey sent these because they could not get me a ps3.

So i just out these on CS and they sold but honestly didnt know they about the memory mix up.

Sorted out the problem with buyers.

So lets carry on as normal im finished with all importing etc. Thank god.

I hope these are not crap break in a month etc as you said.
