Goes blank when u have 50 miles left in tank, so take it easy an keep an eye on how far u have gone since the light come on!

Mine goes blank when the red light comes on, ran for about 50 mile on it like this before refilling, took about 41 quid to fill it though so must have been running on fumes!

i let it run down first time just to make sure the fuel warning light works. try it yourself.

The computer is very accurate according to my calculation. It was 0.5 % overreading after 20k which isnt bad at all.

I nevcer let my car go below half tank so no idea if my fuel light works.

light will come on somewhere between 36-39miles to go.

at 32-35 itll go blank. if ur careful, ie coasting and 5th gear etc, u could do up to 20 miles. thats really pushing it though. normal drive youll get about 12-14.

He he, ive had the light going on at around 30 something, it depends what my average mpg is as to when it comes on. If im doing a higher mpg and still driving easy towards the end of the tank then the light doesnt come on for a while and visa versa.

Saying that, when the light came on at 50 miles left, i managed another 100mies, obviously i wasnt kaining it, i think i might have been on the motorway... I tend to use the actual fuel gauge to determine the file thats left. When the needle gets to the lower half of the red line thats when i know i need to fill up within about 15 min worth of driving (few miles)


I managed 430 miles on one tank from Le-mans to my house! Which i was quietly impressed with considering in France my motorway speed was around 80mph.

I tested all this once, filled the car up properly, then drove till the light came on, diag trick showed I had about 5 litres(60km) left in the tank (45 litres used). I then drove till Id used 49.9litres and filled up...so quite accurate I think

Mine as said above depends on wot my current mpg is. I tend to never put more than a tenner in it at once. It keeps weight down and i only put a full tank in when im doing a long journey. I think in the winter ill break my £10 rule as i cant be bothered to stand in the cold filling my car up every day.

It depends how you drive your car too but it seems accurate enough. I would imagine most 172s dont see much more than 32mpg although for the sake of it you can coax 40mpg out of it on mway.

On constent hammer for a an hour or two i only managed to get it as low as 24mpg.

I find the mpg average isnt accurate for the first 40 miles though. Must need to get some reading to get an accurate average first.
