Must Have Macbook Programmes

I have finally bit the apple and forked out just over 1k for a macbook and something called "ime" (still not figured out what that is yet)...

Anyway im sure there was a thread on here with some macbook applications but i can't find it any where so sorry if it has been done before...

i remember in the thread someone mentioning a messaging utility that is a must have apparently? thats what im trying to find out anyway! along with any other must haves :)

also, is there anyway to get the web browser to fill my screen!?

yep i bought one after my other laptop failed hard!

went for macbook with 250gb HDD (got a 1TB external so dont really need memory) and 2gb Ram (buying 4gb myself as its cheaper).

its a 2.4ghz processor and im still testing how good it is!

also got I me which seems to just be an external HDD in the sky lol

Cant really say what you really need as everyone is different really, but would check out:

All free open source programs and have a large amount of them on mine.
Personally use Firefox over Safari. Also think Cabos is good to use, syncs fine with iTunes as well. Others like VLC for watching films, Cyberduck for FTP and MSN Messenger 6 for MSN.

im struggling to work out how to install programmes :eek:...

It just comes up as a disk and i dont know how to install it :eek::eek:

Unless it has an installer (fairly rare), you just open the disk and drag the program to "Applications".

Installed. Job done.

anyone know how i can copy pictures from my ipod to the comp? i used google but its all PC

Your iPod should appear as an additional device in Finder (I think?).
You should be able to open the folder with the photos in and drag and drop (or copy and paste) them into your pictures folder on the Mac.
