My clio has a nubbin..?

Sorry if its an old question, I have had a search but couldnt find anything.

On the bottom of my near-side wing mirror I have a little nubbin. There isnt one on the off-side. Is it the thermometer for the outside temperature, or is there something genetically wrong with my car?

I have pretty sure that I have seen them on Meganes etc.

Ahhh good stuff, I was thinking about removing it by wrapping some dental floss round it and then attatching the other end to a door and slamming it shut!
