My Cup-Wiped out by a Muppet!

  Cup 172

Going to work this morning and all was well in the world of the Cup.

Turned left off a roundabout and onto a stretch of dual carriageway behind an Audi A4. Indicated and moved into the right hand lane to overtake. Suddenly he started drifting (no car in front of him) onto my lane. I started braking but it was too late. I couldnt move over cos there was an HGV coming down the other side.

He hit my front corner with his back corner. Had to really hold the car as he almost pushed me into the truck. Massive cloud of tyre smoke... Stopped and there was a scratch on his wheelarch. Problem was that his wheel had gone up against my corner and ripped the bumper and wing to pieces. Also cracked a fog lamp and knackered the alloy.

He admitted liability and I got him to sign something saying that. Truck driver turned round, came back and has told me I can use him as a witness if needed.

Absolutely gutted. He didnt even know I was there!!! He drives off with a scuffed arch and my car is mailto:sh@gged">sh@gged!!!!

Muppet.

Unlucky mate, however at least you have witnesses and the guy has omitted fault, it should get sorted for you fairly quickly, fingers crossed.

t**ser, at least he admitted liability. Your never supposed to do that, and you have a witness.

Shame to hear it, at least he was insured though.

This kind of thing really pisses you off doesnt it!! All it takes it for the driver to take a quick look in his mirror before pulling across. Mate had his car written off in the same way, some tit in a escort just drifted across into him!

Sorry to hear it, hope you get it sorted quickly!

Almost the same thing happend to me on while I was going over the forth road bridge (so as you can imagine nowhere to go), I was outside lane slowly overtaking and this car just started drifting into my lane, thankfully I spotted it out the corner of my eye just in time, slammed on the brakes (thankyou renault for such great brakes !!!) and blasted the horn at him.

He at least gave an apology wave as I started to overtake him again.

  Shhh

I had some women drift into my lane before, overtook me on a dual carriage way but i snook back up as it went from a 30-50 and then she drifted into me lane, luckily i dropped back and all was well.

Sorry to hear that...

Looks like shiny a new bumper is on its way, with no stone-chips on it.

Wheels can do serious damage: theyre like mincing machines.

I tore a 16" hole in a VW Lupos door (not my fault).

Had the same thing, was having a play wiht a saxo and was going pulling past, doing the speed limit ofc, and he decides to pull out, was a f**king heart in mouth moment, hard ont eh brakes and horn, he realised as he was got to be no more than a few inches from my bumper

His insurers may try and retract his admission of liability, i investigated a very similar claim last year and if needed can give you some help on how to play it out....

Brilliant thinking getting him to sign admiting liability. no doubt his insurers would have pushed for a 50/50 claim well done chap!

Things are moving on!

Spoke to the g!mp last week and then he started ignoring my calls... Got a hire car sorted out through a company called Help Hire. They specialise in non-fault accidents and it came through Renault assist. Worth remembering... They give you a car and charge it back to the third party. Even if they cant get the money back, Renault Assist (via the AA) insure the policy, so that you are not liable for any costs.

Couldnt get through to his insurers, so had to get my insurance company involved, meaning I temporarily lost my 4 years no claims. That wouldnt be a problem, but I changed my insurance company yesterday, menaing that unless I get proof of no claims within a month, my premium goes up till its been resolved!!!

However, I spoke to Help Hire and they contacted his insurers, faxed them the guys statement and they accepted liability! Help Hire now authorise repairs and claim the money back, meaning that I can close the claim with my insurers and get my no claims back!

Top work and I get a shiny new bumper/wheel/tyre...
