I sold my road angel 2 a couple of months ago and it was probably the worst thing ive ever decided to do...
i'd been lending my parents tomtom go 300 but id had enough and wanted my own so i could put it in the car and have it how i like...
i picked up a tomtom go 700 on ebay for 55 quid, the guy said it wasnt booting up... i recieved it and re-flashed it with the latest firmware and it works perfectly.
so i decided to build it into my car out of the way, and have it mainly for speedcameras plus it also having the option of planning my way when i rarely need it.
i modified the tomtom mount and got it permenantly(sp?) in the cup holders, it just fits and gives a good viewing angle for the driver. Its hard wired into the power, the ignition; so it comes on and off as the car does, and a cable to mute audio which i cant be bothered using yet... i got a pretty good signal without an additional antenna, although it took a very long time to lock... so i got an additional antenna which is now on the back shelf, and i get a lock within 20 seconds.
couple of pics:
the pictures dont really do it much justice, its alot lower than it looks to the driver.. its also twisted and angled towards the driver...
...anyway i know its not good having to look down while driving, but this dosent really affect me as im not really using it to plan routes... just make a sound when near cameras and certain POI's
