My First Track Day - Curborough spring course pics

As some of you know, I had my first track day the other day at Curborough sprint course. It's a short course with nice and tight windys and only one main straight to get speed on. Absolutely loved the day and learnt a lot about my driving and the car and how it handles. Helmets weren't mandatory btw - no other people on track plus no barriers, massive run offs etc you're basically doing 40 around the track

Ended up doing 70 miles in total on track. Here are some pics and a few videos.

We then timed some laps to see what we could come up with. The times were so close and the two clio's on track got the fastest times which is cool

@debussetti beat my time the b*****d Was such good fun chasing each others times though.



Here is a vid, the first two full laps are at the start of the day then at 2:40 on the video is much later in the day after some tuition!




I then took out @AdamR 's Mx5 for a spin and driving a RWD car for the first time properly on track made for some comedy moments especially with my one handed steering, i'm the first clip in the vid




All in all it was a fantastic day and i'm glad I did this as my first event as it was fairly calm with having just one driver on the track at a time.

That Golf is such a shed at the moment, lol. Should be decent when finished though.

No mention of me beating your time in your car Dan :wink: Gutted I didn't beat Haz! Haha.

Seems everyone had a wicked day though, defo have to do another sooner rather than later

It was awesome! Really great day had by all, with about 10 cars doing hot laps, un-timed in the morning while we learned the corners, timed in the afternoon so we could have a bit of a shoot out.

Anyway, here are pictures I've stolen off the guys who had cameras...

And the most important part, the times. Dann was getting quicker all day, and I was always 2 or three seconds off him. Couldn't work out why, as we have the same amount of track experience, and while my car is lighter, he's got his Billies installed and corner weighted, so equal really.

Turns out, it wasn't a flying lap, it was 2 laps with a standing start! So I put the hammer down and managed to beat him by a solid second. He managed to bring it back, through relentless lapping.

Well I've still got the coilovers in my cupboard and the roll center kit is on it's way, so I can only assume with a proper set up I'll be at 54.5 seconds.

Be really interesting to see the difference actually - hope we get the same weather conditions next time so it's a fair test. Will probably bring a different car next time, I was gutted that the 'mighty' MX-5 couldn't keep up with you guys, haha.

The first video is dann2707 in his Clio, the second one is my MX-5 but with 3 different drivers - Dan, then me, then me and another chap with the split screen.

I don't think Dan was out to set a fast time or get perfect lines in my hairdresser mobile, he just wanted to get his gangsta on and shred the rear tyres, lol.

I spun mine there on Saturday and blew a tyre... These things happen I guess.

Kidding btw. Who was the organiser on Saturday?

Shenstone Car Club, the guys who run the place... £25 a year for at least 8 events.
