My mates P1...

  UR R26R.5, VW Golf R
After football tonight, my mate took me for a short blast in his recently RCM and Scoobyclinic fettled 440bhp P1. Ahh, memories... although I don't quite remember it being quite so... how do I put this, f*cking insane!!

I know breakneck acceleration is an old cliche, but going from 1st to 2nd and having absolutely no backlift whatsoever was incredible, just raw power and speed and you could feel yourself being pinned to the seat. It actually boosts off the Defi's (over 2bar)! The noise was mental, too, constantly chirping and fluttering while the exhaust shook the buildings and echoed off anything it could! I'm certainly relieved it had AP Racing brakes to halt our progress. Christ knows how! Another guy then sat in the back for a bit of a blip up a nearby hill (which actually is a private road). Although it was slightly downhill on the way back, we hit 100mph in what seemed like 5 seconds! Seriously. Then it was nice and easy for the rest of the journey back to our cars. Thank God, as it was a tad scary! I have to admit, if that was my car, I think I'd be dead by now. That kind of power and the urge to use it must be infectious.

It certainly reminded me slightly of P1 EVL! Mine was ridiculously quick, but this thing was...

Seriously though. Awesome motor. A masterpiece

This is how it used to look :

Very nice originally, TBH. Well over £12k spent on it since then.

It's mental Quade. I can't imagine how quick Marty's 600bhp+ P1 is. His ran 0-60mph in just over 3seconds and 0-100mph in 6.7s!!

Must be quick... but doesn't appeal to me in the slightest, looking really dated now!

Agreed mate. I thought that when I bought my WR1 and put the two next to each other. They really are looking dated, but still fantastic cars and an icon.

The P1 is still one of my favourite cars of all time! Thing looks total mint!

My cousin has one thats running about 410bhp just tuned for 0-100 performance. Its just a total animal.

Only got 30k on the clock too!

P1, THE ultmate scoob!

:hail:

No...that'd be a Type R or a 22B. P1 = UK pap.

Sounds rapid, I'd stay away from something like a Porsche GT2 if I were you, it might give you a heart attack by the sounds of it.

I was lucky enough to have a passenger ride in a standard p1 when they were new and I thought it was rapid then. Lol that must be un real.

My uncle had one of these many moons ago; was a little tuned up too IIRC; it was the first so-fast-it-distorts-your-face car I ever went in. :approve:

Behave! P1 > Type R.

Amazing, amazing cars P1's are, one of my best mates has just bought one, it's absolutely immactuate with all the Prodrive extras including the optional 18's

It feels so focused when driven quickly on a B-Road, much more so than another of my mates evo 300 fqwtfbbq or whatever they're calling them nowadays.

Such a raw and exiting cars, I'd have one in a heartbeat if I was in the right financial state to afford one, which, sadly I'm not.

I bet that is an absolute animal Scutch

This thing would annihilate a GT2.

As for the ultimate Scoob, that was deemed to be a classic RB5, with the P1 coming in a lowly 2nd place, ahead of the Type R way down the list.

UK pap? Being it's a Japanese performance car underneath it all (Type R) fettled and engineered by Prodrive, arguably the most well known Subaru associate in the UK, I'd say it was pretty far from pap.
