My Monaco 172. Five years in the making...

So, I bought this roughly 5 years ago. It wouldn’t run as the dephaser was so knackered, it had been keyed down one side, looked proper sorry for itself.
BUT it was really straight, never had an accident, subframe had never been off, no rust, low miles at 55k, and I knew I could make it lovely.

So we did the mechanical work (specialist did the belts dephaser and water pump) refreshed loads of suspension bits, proper 4 wheel alignment, repainted the car (apart from the roof and tailgate) refurbed the wheels, new Tyres, etc etc.

Fast forward to yesterday and myself and another clio fanatic had a chat and he agreed to come and see it, even though it wasn’t finished or technically for sale.

Last night I cleaned it (in the dark!) as it had 2 years worth of garage dust on it and charged the battery up.

Here are the pics from after the guy left this morning, as I am really chuffed with it. Needs a little bit of finishing off to make it ‘done’ but it’s all bits you can’t see so I thought I’d post the pics up anyway as it won’t change cosmetically.

It’s not my yard it’s a mates. I’m just lucky enough to be able to store lots of my cars there.

1. Immaculate titanium Ph1.
2. Immaculate Mondial Cup with Aircon.
3. Immaculate Petrol Blue FF.
4. Immaculate Exclusive.


They would have to be pristine though.

The buyer for this has now pulled out due to unforeseen circumstances.
A shame but it’s now mot’d (as of tomorrow) and ready so it will be a shame not to use it this summer and get along to a few local car meets! ?
