the old dear just got herself a new car and to my surprise its arrived with 19inch wheels with 35profile tyres which are screaming out to be ruined

i read a review in (i think) evo mag and they tested these http://www.alloygator.com/home.asp

and raved about them

what do we think, tis only £40 for a set, won't hurt!

Id get them mate.

£40 to possibly save £160+ on a refurb.

I might get some yellow ones, cheaper than pin striping :rasp:

Something like this was posted a while ago I think. Can't remember the general vibe on them. Good idea, not sure I'd buy them personally unless there was someone in the household with a reputation for kerbing wheels...which there isn't. In fact, I think I might be worst lol

do they cover the edges then?
Thinking they could be useful to cover kerbing thats already happened on mine... if so £40 would be money well spent, untili have the finances to actually refurb mine, or buy a new set

just watched the video! thats me sold!

its the same as Daniel's Audi but in a silvery/grey/blue colour

was reading the FAQ section, says discounts available for clubs, could be even cheaper i guess, look nice, could do with some next time i have money left from the wages... could be a while though

p.s. not that i frequently hit kerbs, just the little ones in car parks that pop out of no-where that wouldn't be bad if i was travelling slower:eek:

My Dad's mate should sort me out for refurbs so I wouldn't.

If she wouldn't notice the difference, just get some 16/17s, sell the 19s and keep the extra monies (maybe keep some aside for refurbing the 16/17s).

she maybe 67 but she's on 19's, that's how she rolls!

5ft1 mad scotish woman (she's from Glasgow, the dangerous bit so she says?)

This might sound daft but it look like a door protector strip but more expensive.
Some thing like this but its usually found in black.

Just get the protectors - she's not out on the pull so it doesn't matter if she's not looking pimpin', and we all know kerb/alloy interaction is inevitable, so it's in the car's best interests ;)

I would mate, my mom has a year old car from new and has wrecked the alloys already.

My girlfriend has ruined a freshly refurbed set of Clio wheels, so I think I am going to buy a set of these as the cheaper option, otherwise, I could just throw the money in the bin instead of paying for a refurb, would have the same effect.
