Glad I didnt swap mine with yours then.

You ask anyone who knows about engines and theyll tell you exactly why you should run it in. Its hard, but stick with it.

Youll hear several people on here telling you to hammer it from new as they are under the illusion that you dont have to run cars in anymore and it makes your car faster...

This is wrong, you DO have to run a new car in, its not just the engine that needs time to bed in, and if you read the handbook it tells you what the procedure is.



My Cup was run in from brand new and its certainly not harmed the performance at all!

Have 1/4 mile time slips and rolling road printouts to prove it too...

The handbook is the same for every car in the range, Do you really think a 1.2 should be treated the same as a 2.0 170bhp engine?

Dont thrash it, but dont potter around at 3000rpm either.

i will be running mine at 3000-3500 till 625, engines and other components must be run in, like brakes, gearbox, differential!

I ran both my 1.2 16vs in and had no mechanical problems. My 172 was run in by the salesmen.... Say no more....

running a new engine in isnt gay at all D-CUP, i just want to get the best out of my motor we all have different ways of driving our motors, i personally get satisfaction in looking after my car, thrashing a car from new isnt my idea of looking after it? but then its just my opinion. like i sed it not just the engine your running in, its the gear box, diff, brakes which can warp disc if used to fierce during run in period. whoever gets a new car i strongly advise you stick to the run in procedure unless u want to be in the garage a few years down the line with engine trouble!
