I've just checked EVO magazine and they quote it's 0-60 at 7.8.

cool, i imagined they would dominate a 182 being so small and light - but thats good to hear!

205's are nice but im past cars like that even a 1.9 would feel like a step backwards now an mi16turbo is my language;)

only problem is there reliability out of 100 they score 24:eek: and the williams and valver get a healthy 74:approve:

Sweet, I love these. I got one that I have had for 3yrs, I was an original one with 72k but has a cracked cylinder head paid £70, never did get it fixed. Ended up stripping for parts but still got the shell sitting on my mates farm

yeh there not everyday cars we have taken the engine out fully now all hoses, loom etc melted and head cracked and warped i have an audi 2.0 16v quattro engine were considering dropping in??

I gotta question how regularly well serviced some of these poor cars are? and I mean a real service and not just a top up with oil and water..(if that!) lol. Any miss-treated abused car of this age will only be as good as the owner that maintains it and drives it in my opinion (or previous owner).

I have owned 5 5gtt's and not one has blown a head gasget or a turbo! All have been used as daily drivers apart from my current 5gtt, and all been no less reliable than any other car I've owned. (because they have been correctly set up) poor fueling and silly amounts of boost is going to be the most common accident waiting to happen with these cars (head gaskets are then blamed by these guys!) A rolling road tune is a good investment imo by a 5 specialist. Too many people buy them to run as maintenance free and cheap as humanly possible on a zero budget, to get the most fun for little cost! :(

This is where these poor old cars suffer imo, anyone thats looking....find one thats been well maintained.. regular service history all old MOT's to back up the history and an owner that doesnt run silly amounts of boost on a standard set up.

Most of the disaster stories are from DIY tuners, anyone looking to buy a 5... please be careful who's previous 'project' (disaster) your buying. They just add to spoiling the reputation of these great little cars. Dont think you will find a reliable 5gtt for under a grand! lol. £2k+ is where anything worth seeing starts at and thats still peanuts.

I saw far too many disasters when I was searching for another one a few years ago (to buy my current 5) I searched all over the country and most of the time, was lied to about the condition over the phone until I saw what was sitting on the drive! Some of these owners seriously beleive they are mint with the doors hanging off because theycan be 'easily fixed'! lol. Luckily one came up that was very well looked after, and its been a pleasure to own.. just my thoughts for the day.. :D

totally agree with you comment's there fella. I remember I spent about four months about four years ago looking for a decent rs turbo (ideally wanted a 90 spec erst, but would have settled for a mint fiesta rst) had to admit defeat in the end:dapprove: - hence how come I ended owning a mint valver:approve:

I'd echo what Zonda said too. Took me 6months to find a mint example and that was 6/7 years ago. I'd ring speak to the owner ask about bodywork and mechanical condition to be told it was either mint or tidy then travel to see the car and find it was an utter turd.

Mine was driven hard and used everyday but in the 2 & 1/2 years i owned it it never missed a beat or presented me with any big bills. It was serviced every 6k and i changed the oil every 3k it was always idled after use and warmed up before hammered and when parts needed replacing they were. Sadly thats not how most of them seem to have been treated. Idiots with bleed valves have alot to answer for in terms of the deaths of R5 turbo's IMO.
