Thanks for your comments fellas, much appreciated.

The underneath is like the top. Sad f()cker that I am.

I am trying not to get like this with the Clio, but now thinking while its up on stands having the wheels refurbed, I might get a few bits powder coated... and so we start again.. another garage pony I wont want to drive!!

I am like this with my bike too! Never used in the rain and kept minto! I think I needs some kids....

Hahah, you know what chip, you are right, but then I bought a really tidy and straigght Exclusive, and wanted to make it a mint example of a rare car, but then I didnt pay much for it... I am torn dude!

I guess the Exclusive has no value over a 'normal' 172 car?

Nah exclusives are just pups with rubbish interiors, track it!

If you want a "special" one, buy a trophy.

I am getting that impression fella! No one wants one with a heavier interior, a CD changer and one with funny wheels.....

If I track it though, I think I want it turbo'd you know....

Its the Cossie curse!

Once you have tasted the boost rush, there's no going back!

He will know exactly what I mean!

It's in the low 4's, but I have changed the cwp since, and haven't had much use out of it. Comes on boost a little better as it it's a bit lethargic off boost with such a low comp ratio!

Traction off the line is not its strong point though. Rolling start I am sure it would trounce my r1!!

nice saff mate.. my old 2wd is up in essex somewhere.. it had a famous couple of weeks staring on youtube with its new owner up their doing big burnouts and donoughts in the small streets then got removed.. mine had similar mods to yours but was only any fun for me on big straight roads.. ive had more fun in the clio than i had in the cossie but im sure ill have another one day...

Boys you have to try one. As chip said, the power delivery is awesome, hard work to hang onto, and thoroughly rewarding if you can crack the wayward rear in most gears. I recall pulling out to overtake a car on a dual carriageway back in the day, peeing down with rain, came on boost and was hanging the back end at 90! I thought that was game over! That said, they aren't the 'bargain' cars they once were, and truth beknown if it got nicked or I had a serious tap in it, I wouldn't have another. So much dough for an old car!

i think with all the time and money I have thrown into it, there is better value fun to pound note to be had, and I hope the clio is it! Handling with decent suspension and some sticky tyres is decent enough, but it takes a brave man to push it really hard round the twisties when a boost spike is just waiting to send you into the scenery!

in short the fact I have kept it all this time while loads of cars have come and gone says something eh?!

A friend of mine who has been in my 3 door with a couple of bar of boost and 100bhp of nitrous, and also in my nova when it was running over 500bhp through the rear wheels summary was "I get the impression you dont enjoy going for a drive unless the car is trying to kill you"

It really is addictive being in a monster power rwd car that doesnt handle very well, I dont doubt for a minute that my clio turbo is actually quicker round a track than my 3 door would be, but there is the difference that its really easy in the clio to drive it hard, where as the sierra requires huge amounts of concentration or luck to keep in one piece.

Brilliant fun on the road just arsing about, but too much of a handful on trackdays these days with organisers who get all annoyed at you if you lose it etc, sadly though with the number of cameras and coppers about now my days of really hard road driving are over, hence getting rid of the sierra, they are epic epic cars, but they just dont work well for the modern world where if you use one in anger you lose your license so easily.

Totally agree with all that chip.

in truth it's a dinosaur.

sadly spent too much to think about selling now though! So now it adorns the garage!

Hi Dan,

I would say it keeps up with modern traffic quite nicely my good man

Rwd makes it both involving and entertaining!

Having driven Doug's 525bhp Escos, I can only imagine how this is. His was proper rapid, no drama either. Just spooled up and f**ked off lol.

Love driving Doug's car, such an awesome escort cosworth but certainly dull day out compared to a rwd saph with the same sort of power.

4wd's do drive completely different I agree, not to mention all that drivetrain drag sapping power, and then there's the extra weight...
I guess driving a Yb turbo'd mk1 or mk2 Escort would be something else altogether, and Chip, definitely one of those cars that would trying to kill you!!
That really made me chuckle, as without realising, that is exactly wht I want and enjoy. Taming the untameable. Now that takes balls and skill...
People who dont think on the same level (my Mrs for example) call it bloody dangerous.......

Yeah, its all about being glad you made it home alive, lol.

My nova is very similar in terms of being a total handful:
