my ph1 and errr ph2!



Love it, bee good to see you at a meet sometime fella, and perhaps have a passenger ride ? ;)

Yeh will deffo be along to a meet soon!

You can have a passenger ride, but ive only driven it once so far so totally not used to it, the pedals are alot heavier and the way it kicks at 4k takes some getting used to lol

Ah! I see. Presumed with it being on a Y it would be 640

deffo not tho as the ph2 is iceberg and totally different colour!

And yes i know people the heat sheild is poo, it will be gone soon, hopefully 2moro if it stops raining :(

No problem fella. V. difficult to spot iceburg in a photo, must be the tint of blue that doesn't come out.

Must be nice... Which cliosport shall I drive today!:rasp:

Unfortunatly until the ph2 sells then the ph1 will be off the road!

Loving the fact that ive got time to do a few things to it before its on the road though, makes it alot easier! Well if the weather gave me a break!

Got more bits done today :)

Played about with the ICE abit, didnt sound quite right considering it was meant to be focals up front, so i took the grilles off to have a look! to find:

Hardly focals and the one screw fitment wouldnt do much either!

So had a look to see what was in the back and found it had some still crap but slightly better and more importantly the right size pioneers, so whacked them in with 4! screws!

Played about with the wiring in the boot to tidy it up:

And tried to trace these fooking wires, they are doing my nut in i cant find where they go to! anyone any ideas!

Whilst ive been having the wheels on and off i realised that the arch liners were loose in places from the old wheels rubbing, and also the front bumper wasnt the best fit, so:

Front bumper fits better now and arch liners are all good bar a couple of fittings which i will have to get from renault!

Whilst i was putting the wheels back on i was thinking about spacers again, and as the old wheels had 5mm spacers on i thought i wonder what 10mm looks like so:

Looks much better i think, so will definatly get some!

And lastly the exhaust plate is, GONE! leaves holes but still alot better!
Whilst i was there i removed the sport badge as it looked abit cluttered and well abit more stealth!

What do people think about ride height!

Raise the rear to level out of lower the front?

yep, i would raise the back slightly to level it out like you said. about 20mm would look about right i think

Last day before i go back to work so wanted to get it as close to road ready/how i want it as wont get much chance now till next year!

Went out and bought a haynes manual, flicking through i found that the top part of the dash is so easy to take off i thought why not as i could try and trace the speaker cables that were doing my head in!

so:

and then the mystery was solved:

One of the previous owners obviously took the focal speakers with them or thought they did, but the crossovers and tweeters are still in the car(well they were) and so the speakers on there own are pretty useless without this lot:

So got all the dash back together and hooked up all the wiring and mounted my headunit nice and secure.

I also temp wired an old voltage display into the amp to see how the battery was doing with the amp drawing power:

Stuck it up the front to see whilst the bass dropped....

and well its up and down like a yo yo(not in pic), so a new battery will be added to the list of things needed!

Then last job i could think of to do was to do the rear suspension!

So i cracked on and got the springs and platforms out:

I cleaned off the platforms and raised them up and got them back on the car but rain has stopped play for a few mins, so once that stops i will be able to fit the springs back in and bolt shocks back in, wheels back on and drop it back down to see if its teh right height or not!

Cheers buddy, need to get rid of the ph2 though, as need the money tied up in it :S

One thing i forgot to add was i looked at the rear arch liners as the fronts were quite bad from rubbing etc and the rears werent much better, see places were the wheels have rubbed etc, and i wanted to see if i could get the rear bumper to sit better with the arch, but the nuts are rounded and one of the liner nuts snapped off it was so corroded so had to drill that out and bodge up! So new rear arch liners will also be added to the list but hopefully i can do that with the ph2 rear if i ever find one!

got everything back together, even washed the wheels, but only quickly with water as no hose at mine:(

So its pretty much ready for the road once the ph2 sells, do need a rear fog light and a front sidelight, and as i was putting it back in the garage realised the horn isnt working so that will need some investigation :(
But all in all im happy now :)

Christophe : yeh i did like the OZs and yes everyone has turinis, BUT they were just too big, the arch liners are a mess now because of them and turinis may be popular on here, but round my way i aint seen any :)

sam you done well yesturday with a probable hang-over, impressed mate

and as for not seeing any turini's open your eyes son the is a black 172 around shepton with them.....

I didnt have to much of a hang over really, i knew that a 45min+ coach journey home wouldnt have been good for a belly full of beer and vodka!

There were a few that didnt think of it though lol

And your right i had forgotten about the black 172 from focus, but they are silver, havnt yet seen any anthracite ones!

i can guess exactly who those few were aswell who didn't think about the journey home/alcohol mixture......

indeed they are silver, not seen any anth turinis down our way, not many cliosports really, although have spotted a fair few in the last 2 days strangely, think i fancy euro or jap rims if i change

If i didnt have the turinis already from the ph2 i think i would have gone a different route, but as they were here and they do look good then not worth the hassle!

like Gary G used to have

you talking to me chris? if you are, great minds think alike, have been looking at rota's but not the slipstreams, can get them a bit cheaper to hopefully,

rags the phase 1 is deffo not a downgrade compared to the phase 2, its closer to a proper drivers car than the phase 2 is, and surely thats what entusiasts want in a car

I dont see it as a downgrade, yes it may be older, but by only a year and yes it may be the older shape but as i said i think its got more character!

And as for everything else well its quicker, handles better, is more responsive, more enjoyable! So i dont see it as a downgrade at all!

But i can see why you would think it was!
