My tyres?!

On my dynamique, i think the tyres are 185/45/r15... Sound about right?
I have standard dynamique alloy wheels, could i say buy tyres that are 195s? Or what does the 45 bit mean? Any help is appreciated!

i run 195/50's on standard wheels...

Just looked, and on PE2s they make a 195/50/zr15 which is just over £60, then a 195/50/r15 which is just over £40. They both have rim protection, which sounds good. What's the difference? Is it worth £20 a tyre?

185= width of the tyre 45= the profile, so the distance from the edge of the wheel rim to to the edge of the tyre tread and 15= the diameter of your wheel

Cheers, are the profiles and widths set in stone? Or can you buy slightly wider and lower profiled tyres?

Not set in stone no, but widths are designed to go on certain wheels, profiles are easier to get away with than widths, profiles that are lower can improve handling but can be detrimental to the ride, making it harsher. You could get a 185 45 15 tyre, but to be honest if you want bigger widths and lower profiles, go for a bigger rim. Having said that mate, you need to remember that your car's geometry has been set up and designed to run on the standard size. I put 205 45 17's on my 172 and imo the handling was compromised.

Ive just checked and it seems that 185 45 15 might be a bugger for black circles to do, but shop around, im sure the size exists!??
