N/S Front speaker and O/S Rear speaker not working...

Had my car MOT'd yesterday and its come back with the above problem... when im listening to a CD the O/S front and N/S rear speakers work, but when listening to the radio only the N/S rear speaker works :S

Im just about to have a qwuick look at them myself, but just wondering if anyone has any ideas?

Aftermarket head unit been wired in?

My headunit was bought from a mate, and it worked fine before the MOT.
I rewired the N/S from speaker last night because there were a couple of dodgy connections and that seems to have sorted it.
But when i put a CD on the speakers go really quiet and i have to turn the head unit up to full volume to get a decent level whereas when i have the radio on, the speakers are at a good level and dont need to be up full blast.... Very confusing.
Anyone know whats going on? lol
