need a kvm

not sure what you mean when you say connecting the server to the kvm via usb, not just keyboard and mouse.

Most KVM's these days support both USB and PS/2 so you can use either connection, both are only transmitting the keyboard and mouse though, just one connection rather than the two when using usb.

Then the VGA aswell, then these days you get IP KVM's aswell but I am unsure of what you mean by your comment, unless by keybpard/mouse at the end of the sentence you mean PS/2?

Blackbox are good but also expensive, Belkin do a pretty good range and also rose.

how about something like this?

need to add the cables too.

this is a pretty good deal as it includes the cables

what i mean is 99% of all kvm's use ps2 connectors to go from the server to the kvm
id like it to use usb if possible mainly due to the fact of v440 sun box has no keyboard port so only way to use it directly is via usb

some say they use usb but purely for you to plug a keyboard into but they still use ps2 to connect to the server

Belkin ones are a pain in the arse. They work fine most of the time but if u turn 1 server off then back on it keeps autoswitching itself, or the keyboard doesn't work till u unplug it from both servers and reconnect.

i must admit i have never had a problem with them , they seem to do what they say on the tin for me.

Belkin IP KVM are fab. Just remember you need 1 IP module PER server/device you attach. They don't come with them.
