Need advice plz...

CAR - 02 plate 172 cup 44k on the clock 1 owner

Just purchase the above and noticed when driving at 70 and above im getting a load of vibration coming through the steering wheel. I brought this to the attention of the dealership who i purchased it off whilst on a test drive and they confirmed on delivery that both the tracking and tyre pressure was changed to rectify the problem. However its still there....

any ideas what the problem is? I managed to get a 4* after sales warrenty on it, but i have never had car issues before and really dont know my arse from my hand when it comes to them, so you guys expertise and knowledge would be great.

Other than that as far as i can tell the car is everything i expected and wanted it to be...

likely cause is wheel balancing, alignment has nothing to do with steering wheel vibration. Id get the balance checked try to get the weights put on both sides of the wheel.

how much does that cost and can it be done by any garage? or would i be entitiled to have the done free of charge from the dealership i brought the car from?

You should have taken it back or mentioned it right away as a garage I'd be dubious about paying for it as you could have knocked the tracking out curbing the car etc.

Ballencing of the wheels is a few quid a tyre get the tracking checked thats most likly the issue. Also check condition of the bushes etc.

As I said above I wouldn't pay if I were a garage if you havn't mentioned it for ages since you bought the car. Plus if they've already think they've done it once I'd go elsewhere many places cannot do tracking anyway correctly.

was test drov on friday deliverd monday so im gonna drop them a line.

well, i decided i couldnt take it any longer, got wheels balanced, mechanic got a mate to look at the readings for both the front tyres on the machine, then they laffed and said my wheels were well out !!!

20mins later, all fixed and only £10 - proper test comes tommra when on motorway ! ill keep you guys posted.
