  H&R + Pole Position'd Cup
Went to see a cup 52 plate cup today. Bodywork seemed in good condition, drove ok and sounded alright.

But

Subs, amps were fitted in the boot with some very dodgy selotaped wiring, with extra power supplies.

Also, the engine management light came on along with the airbag light.

Now, usually it would be definate no but through the trade the car can be had for a very good price.

Think its worth the risk? Any ideas what the lights could mean?

Any advice appreciated

for the dodgy wiring of the sub and amp, dont worry about it. just remove it and all the wiring . if you want a sub and amp, start again and wire it in with new cables.
quite a common problem for the management light and airbag light to come on. just needs the codes reading and the fault reset usually.

how much does he want if you dont mind me asking?

Air Bag light is a common fault with the MK2, mine comes on quite often.

Not sure about the engine managment one though.... Could be the problem a girl at work had with the....labedda (I can never remember what it's called or spell it)?? controls the fuel flow/emissions etc. The light kept coming on and she would lose power etc. correct me if I'm wrong ;)

Yeah would deinately be removing all that - extra weight innit? ;)

But from the way its all been done kinda puts me off. If they can do that to their car and not care, then god knows how theyve driven it.

£4295 is the cheapest it can be had for.

Expensive fix?

Wonder if it's butters old cup complete with a professional halfords install. Whoever fitted his needed sacking, it was dangerous it was so badly fitted.

Check the underseat wires to see if that takes the airbag light off, otherwise its possibly been in a shunt or had the airbags detonated at least.

Haha could be. Wheels had been powder coated in white and it had a private plate beginning with M. Apparently they were called matt, mick, mike or something.

1 of the lower panels under the dash had been removed as well to make way for the professional wiring job

i know what you mean about how they might have driven it, i would say give it a good lookover, take it for a good drive, get to know the seller a bit to build up an idea of how he might have driven it.
does sound a good price tho.

my exhaust emissions light came one just before my mot. just needed resetting. there was no actual fault. so it could be fine like mine was. was it that light? is it an orange, square type shape? if so could just be the lambada sensor. not expensive

Its from a dealer mate at trade price and they know very little about it or the owner.

Could just be a sensor but could also be something expensive like needing a replacement ECU?
