Need help with the clio models

Hi there,

I am looking to buy a Clio around the 2001/2002 age but I am unsure of the difference between the Clio Dynamique, Expression and Authentique (I don't know if there are any more). Could you please tell me the differences, which cost more and also if any have different insurance groups?

Authentique is the basic model, Expression is middle way, Dynamique has all the toys and I would say go for that.

Insurance wise there all group 3 IIRC.

Dynamique are the sportier models the expression and authentique are school run spec Extreme is a later model there good to, also there is billabong but it comes n a strange blue :S no difference in insurance between either

Dynamique looks best standard, as said it's the most sporty looking one out of the three and has the little silly things like auto headlamps and wipers etc.

Having read on here sometime ago apparently the Dynamique has a lower stance and stiffer suspension??

Auto headlights and rain sensitive wipers are a must though :approve:

Very easy to fling the Dynamqiue round the corner I must say

My 1.4 16v is a group 5 btw.

Clio Renaultsport 182 Cup
This was a variant of the 182 in the same way as the 172 cup is to the standard car, again lighter in weight and had the cup packs as standard. Also had standard material trim instead of leather to reduce weight.

The Trophy is based on the Renaultsport 182 Cup with the following changes:
Capsicum Red in colour
Trophy logos at the rear of both side sills.
Rear spoiler is same used on the Clio Renaultsport V6 255.

Steering wheel is same as standard Clio 182, leather with rubber thumb grips
Doorsills have Renaultsport-branded protectors.
The Trophy suspension is lowered a further 10mm at the front
Sachs Race Engineering Dampers and have a unique damping force/velocity curve and feature a remote reservoir to accommodate nearly 50% of the oil and gas.

also the 1.6 dynamique from 2005 onwards (mine :rasp: ) were given diff sus, diff steering rack and rear discs instead of drums

1.6s are group 8 insurance

there is also dynamique+ in the 1.4 and 1.6s just to make things even more complicated lol (as far as i remember all that added was an alarm and air con but i'm probs wrong )

auto lights and wipers were availible on 1.2 16v dynamiques too, afaik they were standard spec but not 100% on that.

Pre June 2002 cars didn't have auto lights/wipers but they will have the dash dimming dial and adjustable lumbar support on the drivers seat instead. Also the seat pattern is replicated on the door cards and the dynamique badge on the inside of the glovebox lid is a different style.

I've got a 1.2 Dynamique & its got auto lights & auto wipers so I think its standard on all Dynamiques.

Plus Air con & alloys as standard.

Dynamiques of all engine sizes came with Auto headlights and wipers, I have an early 2002 Clio 1.2 and it came with auto lights and wipers as standard on mine, just doesn't have the Climate control/Air con.

Not all, my 51 plate didn't have either but had drivers seat lumbar support and the dash dimmer. The 03 plate 1.6 that replaced it have the lumbar support or dimmer but had auto lights/wipers.

Its either June or March 02 they started fitting them I can't remember which.

Helo,

I want to buy a Clio from 1998 and in the registration papers of the car there is something that i do not understand " Renault, model "B Clio 5RT4"".
Can somebody shade some light on this matter
