hey i got a mk 2 face lift or mk 3 not overly sure but i want to lower and put 16 inch alloys on wot ammount should i lower by any help appreciated

you'll be able to lower it 60mm no problems on 16" can even do it with 17" and have no problems.

or better still go for coilovers and lower about 70-80mm

depends on your budget

Dont lower it anymore than 40mm on 16's to get the full driving ability out of the car

well my budget for the wheels and lowerin springs prob bout 7 to 800 and iv seen some 35 or some 60's for the same price another prob is i live by loads of speed bumps so dont waan damage the car

What springs calim and do is a different thing and lower not better.

IMO keep with the stock suspension setup or spend a load.
