Need some advice please

I was wondering if some of you could offer me some advice or guidance on buying my next car. Ideally i am looking for a LY182 with low mileage. I understand that these are hard to come by at the best of times except maybe the odd 1 every so often on pistonheads etc etc.
My question is , would i be better off buying my new car privately or goin to a stealer and trading in what ive got???? Obviously the garage wont give me as much for my car as i would get if i went privately , but would it be worth it for the warranty i would get etc??? I really dont know whether or not to get the car i want in the colour i want or to go to a garage and get the car that i want but in a different colour.
I know some might think this is a petty thing to worry about but this is a car ive wanted for a while and at 20 insurance aint great so im not looking to fork out on problems that warranty could cover. Any advice or help would be much appreciated as this is only my second car i will be buying.

It depends on if you want the hassle of selling your car then looking really.
If your not fussed about taking a hit on the price you get for yours I say part ex it.

Or alternatively look for the car you want as you want (LY) then sell yours ?

When I was looking for my 182, I had my heart set on a LY one! The guy in EK wanted £10,500 for it at the time, but then I browsed Auto Trader, Pistonheads etc and found my RB one in a garage in Dunfermline, after couple of phone calls and a viewing, my car was traded in and the 182 was mine.
If you heart is set on a LY go for it! Just check out garages etc first, they might surprise you with how much they will give you for yours!

If thats the LY one in EK, yeah its got the full fat wheels so would assume it doesnt have the cup pack(s).
Looks a bit odd with the silver wheels on the yellow. Much prefer LY with the cup wheels.

Infact, now i think about i used to see a this driving around EK quite alot, though it had black 17s on it.

Might not be the same one but as i've never seen a LY with the silver wheels around here makes sense for it to have been the one with the black rims.

I traded my GTi6 in for my 182 last week, TBH im glad i did it this way, i got a years warranty and its going in for some work doing.

One of the rear dampers has failed which i think i read are £100 each (cup)

that would have been £100 of my own money, I also got an insurance for the MOT so if it fails they will pay for it putting right, Not bad as the disks are quite scored
