network question

  Civic Si
i'm starting to get annoyed with my wireless network... a friend was telling me about his set-up, it's kinda wireless but it uses the electricity sockets to transport the signal so you plug these special plugs into plug sockets and connect the plug with an ethernet cable to the router. this then ables you to then use another plug socket in any other room(via one of the special plugs you get with it) to then connect to either a pc or abox etc.

My friend said it's like having a completely wired network, and you obviouslt dont have to worry about network security

does anyone use this?

i guess it's something like this..

I don't use it personally myself but it's better than wireless as the signal doesn't drop although your actual network speed may drop as you lose alot with the length of the cables. Its good in theory but can start to get costly as you'll need either 1 of those blocks per computer or a switch and run cables to and from the switch

This is what comes with the BT Home Hub / Vision setup. I set it up for a friend and the speeds were fine.

if your sockets are wired at current regs then u would have to have some serious size house for it to affect speed with that system
