Its bambams so its already run in! Its turned a nice gold colour, looks really cool. Know what you mean, changing down from 4th/5th to 2nd is great fun! Love going through tunnels as well, couldnt believe it would sound so deep. Its a 6x3 btw, think its a bit a quieter than your twin, but its just right for me :)

trax car show, 7th september, at silverstone. i think there is somethin about it on the site.......cliosport going??

rob

you may want to try a bit of Autosol (paste) on the exhaust to clean it up a little, i never had time to do it myself

glad you like it though

ok, sorry to hijack the thread, but what is the best overall induction kit for the 1.2 16v mk3 clio??? For sound, performance etc etc??

  H22A7 Accord Type R

.........a lot of the reason i aint bothered with an induction kit for mine is because i hear they dont sound all that loud or great.............. any of u boys out there with 1.2 16vs found a MINT one yet????? or does the engine just not have all that great an induction note in it?????

VIPER!

I have one and i am well pleased! Alot louder then the Pipercross S Spec (according to Fred)

I have the std zorst on for now with it fitted and the nosie it noiceable as i have people asked me what zorst have i fitted none its the viper!

So my opinion is the viper, i am plesed with it !
(Also i think i have converter fred from his s spec to the viper!)

god, think thats the first time ive seen a pic of all your car, not just a scuffed wheel!!!! whats wi the number plate??? im interested ;) looks like yer exhaust needs some tweaking??? bit low, or maybe its coz its a black car? i had to adjust mine loads till it was right

Rob

the bracket usually need adjusting quite a few times to get right

i believe the intention for Rob was to buy a cup and add Nitrous, but that attempt has failed for the time being

  H22A7 Accord Type R

ill vouch for that Bambam, been under mine a lot messing with it!!!! Hmmmm cup with NOS......explains the plate!!! sounds like a good plan to me Rob

Rob

Hi guys,

The exhaust is a better fit than it looks, as the bumper sort of merges with the shadow, i will need to adjust it slightly to give as much clearance as possible for speed bumps when its lowered though.

Two reasons for the numberplate, firstly motivation to work towards getting the cup and also i thought i better get it before someone else snapped it up! Its actually appreciated in value so if i dont get a Cup ive made a tidy profit anyway!

Cheers

lol!

I have turinis, its also getting -55mm spax and dampers. I may get it colour coded, new V6 spoiler and the Renault sport kit sideskirts as shown in another thread (theyre like 172 ones). Depends, i may push to get a better car as soon as i can.

what spax kit u gettin Rob? not coilovers??? im considering a 60mm kit at some poiint. springs and shocks. Be intersting to see pics and ur views on how the car handles with the spax kit!!! How much?

Rob

Im not sure mate, its the VSX kit which is around £250 for the -35mm kit but im takin the -55mm option, ill expect it will cost an extra £30 or so. It will be hard to judge the ride as the lower profile tyres wont help but fingers crossed i wont need back surgery!

-Rob

to be honest

who cares how harsh the ride is

if you want comfort, buy a german car

slam the s**t out of it, rattle the car to its death, then sell it

well thats what ive done,

oh and the exhaust will cause a few interior rattles rob, nothing major, just slightly annoying at times

compare 1/4 mile times of mine and fred

me : ktr exhaust, s-spec i/k on ktr relocation pipe
fred : powerflow exhaust, viper

times

me : 18.062
fred : 18.069

alright, he was running on 17s, and i was on 15s, but fred was not hitting the limiter in 3rd, i was hitting the limiter in 3rd about 40ft before the finish

to be honest, the viper will not show great gains on the 1.2 over an open i/k, just will sound better

chances are in fact that yonce you fit the viper, you will lose power, as a couple of 172 drivers have found out, once the viper is fitted you will have to have the ECU remapped to get the fuelling right, lots of hassle for a couple of bhp

I just think that a full KIT will reduce the roll of the car. Make it feel a bit more solid round the bends. Aint bothered about comfort really, not too much.

as for the interior rattles, oh yes!!! buzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

For a start my 1.2 wont be doing any superb 1\4 mile times in it current state

theres about 80kgs of ice in the boot

takes 5 mins to strip the rear seats, and a couple of minutes to remove your ICE

there you go, job done in under 10 minutes

Bryan remember the 17s would of given fred more grip so you should give yourself more credit..

And the exhaust hasnt annoyed me one little bit yet, in fact its not loud enough :devilish:

& the fact its a powerflow exhaust doesnt do the car any justice.... (so ive been told!) But i have been told the Viper is one of the only IKs that dont reduce the power of ur car! compared to k&n 57i type ones and the like as they suck in heat from the engine bays

Its difficult to say what difference induction kits make in terms of overall power gains. What they will do is redistribute power through the revs. An ECU remap and a larger bore exhaust system together with an induction kit should give you a few more BHP at higher revs, but the low-end torque drops significantly. Means you have to work it harder when youre driving about town but foer B-road thrashing its a big improvement. In terms of the variations between induction kits, a K&N 57i will be good when theres a cold air supply (e.g. a ram pipe, filter relocation pipe so filter is in grille, lots of cold air feeds/dams, or cold weather) but when it gets warm it will lose power. A Piper-x is the same, but not quite as pronounced an effect. Viper kit is the least susceptible to temperature conditions as the carbon box practically shields the filter from all engine heat, but its a little more restrictive than an open IK so the potential gains are more limited. Also, it can result in knocking/pinking without a ECU remap to sort the fuelling.

Regarding your comment about the Powerflow exhaust not doing the car any justice. I assume what youre referring to is the fact that since its a custom made universal exhaust, rather than one designed for the specific application it wont be designed to the requirements of the individual car and therefore is likely to lose power, as the pipework may not be of the right bore/shape for the vehicle, therefore not attaining the best balance between back-pressure and free-flow for the individual vehicle. This is true up to a point, in that the main application specific exhaust companies design the exhaust for a car based on the properties of the OE system, and improve upon those with their replacement design.

But this does not mean that a Powerflow, etc. custom exhaust will not give power gains. If the combination of backbox and pipework is right theres no reason why not. Its just more of a lottery as to what you choose! An example of a car with a Powerflow running big power gains is Freds. As far as Im aware his IK is the same as Bambams, (S-Spec), and hes running 17"s (which will slow him down overall, the grip advantage is minimal), yet his times are not much different. And both cars are considerably up on standard power. So the Powerflow hes got does seem to be doing its job pretty well!
