New 172 Clutch

Clutch has gone on my 172, seems fine while driving but all you can smell is burning clutch when you get out. Dropped it off at the local Renault Garage for investigation today and confirmed that it needs a new clutch.

They've quoted me a price of £850 plus i've still got £80ish to pay today for the investigation.

Is this a fair price ?

Can anyone suggest another garage in the Rochester/Gravesend/Chatham area to try ? Bearing in mind it might not make it much further than that before it dies completely.

s**t a renault "specialist" quoted me £500 notes for my new clutch, ok so its a 1.6 but cant be much difference, finally managed to get a quote for £240 fully fitted.

Its not had to DIY
Drop the engine, pull the gearbox and fit it lol
5 hours work if it your first time!!

mr clutch was cheap, but my local one were a bit pants, put some other clip bottom plastic thing on, also put some other bolt in place ot hold it their, cos they lost that bolt, makes me wonder what crap they have done to my car
